Differences In Responders
At Get First Aid, we provide a wide range of skilled responders to match the specific requirements of your event. From community gatherings to large-scale festivals, we tailor our team to ensure the right level of care is always available. Our responder breakdown is designed to give you a clear understanding of the different roles we offer — from First Aiders and Medics through to Advanced Medics, Nurses, and Paramedics. This ensures you have the confidence that your event is fully supported with the right expertise on the ground.
BLS Medics
BLS Medics are trained to provide frontline emergency care and manage a wide range of injuries and medical conditions. They deliver essential first aid, CPR, and basic life support, stabilising patients until further care is available. BLS Medics can administer some medications and typically hold an Advanced First Aid qualification. Many are also progressing their studies in healthcare, including Certificate IV, Diploma programs, or first-year Paramedicine.Ideal for community events, sports, and low-risk environments, BLS Medics ensure fast, professional on-site response when it matters most.
Advanced Medics
Advanced Medics are highly skilled responders suited to medium to high-risk events where a greater level of clinical care may be required. They have more field experience and are trained to administer a broader range of medications, manage complex medical conditions.
Most Advanced Medics are in their 2nd or 3rd year of Paramedicine studies or are recently qualified graduates, bringing both up-to-date knowledge and practical expertise to the role. Their advanced training makes them ideal for large-scale events, high-participation sports, and environments where the risk profile requires stronger clinical capability.
Senior Medics
Senior Medics bring the same high-level clinical capability as Advanced Medics, including the ability to administer a wide range of medications and manage complex medical situations at medium to high-risk events. What sets them apart is their broad skill set and leadership experience.
Senior Medics are confident in overseeing teams on the ground, coordinating responses across multiple patients, and mentoring less experienced staff. Their combination of advanced clinical knowledge and strong leadership makes them a vital asset for larger events where both medical expertise and operational oversight are essential.
Incident Commander
Incident Commanders are the senior leaders responsible for overseeing all medical operations at an event. They manage resources, coordinate responder teams, and make critical decisions to ensure patient care is delivered efficiently and safely.
With extensive experience in both clinical practice and event operations, Incident Commanders are skilled in risk management, multi-patient coordination, and interagency communication. They provide on-the-ground leadership, ensuring seamless collaboration between medics, event organisers, and emergency services.
Their role is vital at large-scale or high-risk events, where strategic oversight and clear command structures are essential to maintain safety and control in dynamic situations.
